Bradley Krohn is the President and
Chief Technical Officer of U.S. EnviroFuels. His vision
is to capitalize on an untapped ethanol market in
Florida and the southeastern U.S. using conventional and
alternative ethanol feedstocks. Dr. Krohn is an expert in the areas of ethanol production
technology, ethanol production quality control and
biological engineering of ethanol production systems.
Prior to founding United States EnviroFuels, LLC, Dr.
Krohn was employed by Monsanto Company in St. Louis,
Missouri for 12 years in several advanced technology
lead positions related to the development of
agronomical-improved transgenic crops. While at
Monsanto, Dr. Krohn was charged with the task of
improving the starch content quality of crops such as
corn, wheat, and potatoes. During his last three years
at Monsanto, Dr. Krohn directed the technology platform
for the company’s BioEnergy Program. This initiative
developed, characterized, and validated 'High
Fermentable Corn' (HFC) hybrids for the dry grind corn
ethanol industry. HFC hybrids give greater yields of
ethanol per bushel of corn and have been successfully
adopted by over 40 dry grind ethanol plants. Dr. Krohn
managed several large scale HFC hybrid validation trials
with seven different commercial ethanol plants. In doing
so, he gained on-site exposure to the operations of corn
ethanol plants, the evaluation of ethanol plant
efficiencies, and the management of plant quality
control and production yields.
Realizing his ambition to become an ethanol producer,
Dr. Krohn voluntarily vacated his position at Monsanto
in October of 2003. Initially, he consulted in the
application of high power ultrasonics for the ethanol
industry before he became co-founder of USEF in 2004.
Dr. Krohn's goal is to capitalize on an untapped ethanol
market in Florida and the southeastern United States by
using alternative ethanol feedstocks. Dr. Krohn is an expert in the areas of ethanol
production technology, ethanol production quality
control, and biological engineering of ethanol
production systems.
Dr. Krohn received his B.A. in biochemistry from
Williams College (Williamstown, MA), and received his
Ph.D. in genetic engineering of industrial enzymes and
industrial fermentative microorganisms from the
University of Florida (Gainesville, FL). He has held a
life-long passion for the commercial application of
biotechnology and applied microbiology in order to
provide enhanced consumer benefits in an
environmentally-sound fashion. Dr. Krohn also shares a
commitment with the rest of the USEF management team to
reducing the United States’ dependence on foreign oil.
He is the brother of Jeffrey T. Krohn.
